Lionel Richie: In Conversation with Sebastian Maniscalco about his Memoir, “Truly” (not a musical performance)

Encore Theater
October 02 | 8 PM

Join Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-inductee and Kennedy Center Honors-recipient, Lionel Richie, as he shares intimate, deep, and candid moments from his storied life with comedian, actor, and author, Sebastian Maniscalco, on the Las Vegas stop of the book tour for his newly-released memoir, Truly (HarperOne, 2025).

In his memoir, Lionel—the first recording artist ever to receive the RIAA’s “diamond certification” (honoring artists whose sales of singles or albums reaches 10,000,000 copies)—chronicles the lessons he learned during his unlikely story of remarkable success and his dramatic transformation from painfully shy, “tragically” late-bloomer to world-class entertainer and four-time Grammy Award-winning composer of love songs that have played as the soundtrack of our lives.

In conversation with Maniscalco, Lionel will revisit hilarious and harrowing events certain to inspire any people who doubt themselves or feel their dreams don’t matter, reminding us of the power of love to elevate our own lives and the lives of those around us.

All guests will receive a copy of Richie’s memoir, Truly, courtesy of HarperOne, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers [a $35 value].

Sebastian Maniscalco: Live in Vegas (residency)

Encore Theater
October 03, 04 | 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM

Anyone questioning whether The New York Times was being generous when it described Sebastian Maniscalco as “the hottest comic in America,” need only witness the crowd exiting the Encore Theater after one of his frequent “Live in Vegas” residency shows, where departing audience members enthusiastically repeat to each other their favorite set-ups and punchlines from Maniscalco’s charmingly nostalgia-centric, “Can you believe this?” style of stand-up.

Following the success of his riotous Netflix comedy specials—Stay Hungry in 2019 and Is It Me? in 2022—he’s wrapped production on his first Hulu comedy special, It Ain’t Right [filmed during his ongoing tour of the same name], which will debut in 2026 as part of the streamer’s “Hularious” stand-up initiative.

What’s more, after completing the final season of the Chuck Lorre sitcom, Bookie on HBO Max (on which he starred and served as executive producer), earlier this year, it was announced that the multitalented Maniscalco would voice the infamous grifter Charles Ponzi, on Apple’s first ever scripted podcast, Easy Money: The Charles Ponzi Story, which is hosted by former Los Angeles Times investigative reporter, Maya Lau, and available for download now, on Apple Podcasts.

Alongside comedian Pete Correale, Maniscalco also co-hosts The Pete and Sebastian Show podcast (available now, on Apple Podcasts); has appeared in such noteworthy films as Tag (2018), the Academy Award- and Golden Globe Award-winning Green Book (2018), Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed The Irishman (2019), Ray Romano’s directorial debut Somewhere in Queens (2022), the semi-autobiographical About My Father (2023) opposite Robert DeNiro (which Maniscalco co-wrote), and the Jerry Seinfeld-produced and -directed Unfrosted (2024).

But it’s the stand-up stage (or really any stage with a microphone) where Maniscalco really shines, having sold-out such major arenas as Madison Square Garden (New York), Prudential Center (Newark), and United Center (Chicago) where he holds the record for highest-grossing comedian.

Due to popular demand, Sebastian Maniscalco will be performing two shows—7:30pm and 10:30pm—on both Friday, October 03 and Saturday, October 04.

UB40 with The English Beat: The Relentless Tour

Encore Theater
October 05 | 8 PM

Best known for their infectious, charting reggae/dub covers of hits from multiple genres, UB40 is one of Great Britain’s most successful and influential groups of all time, with more than 50 charting singles in the UK and numerous US Top 10s, as well as having sold more than 100 million albums,

UB40 gained worldwide acclaim for their infectious recordings of Randy Newman’s “I Think It’s Going to Rain Today,”  Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers to Cross,” Eric Donaldson’s “Cherry Oh Baby,” Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” with Chrissy Hynde, The Jackson 5’s “Maybe Tomorrow,” Dusty Springfield’s “Breakfast in Bed” with Chrissy Hynde, Al Green’s “Here I Am (Come and Take Me),” The Temptations’ “The Way You Do the Thing You Do,” and Bob Dylan’s “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” with Robert Palmer.

But they are most well-known for two covers: Neil Diamond’s “Red Red Wine” (certified Gold in the US and 2x Platinum in the UK)—which according to Diamond was one of his favorite covers of his songs, such that when singing it live, he would usually perform UB40’s reggae version instead of his original arrangement—and Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” recorded as “(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love with You” (certified Platinum in the US, UK, Germany, and New Zealand, and 2x Platinum in Australia; topped the charts in 11 countries, including the US, where it spent seven weeks atop the Billboard Top 100).

UB40 is being supported on The Relentless Tour by British ska/new wave band The Beat (known as The English Beat in the US and Canada, and as the British Beat in Australia).  The band burst onto the scene in 1979 with an upbeat cover of the Smokey Robinson & The Miracles global hit, “Tears of a Clown,” which would climb to #6 on the UK charts.  This was followed almost immediately with the single “Mirror in the Bathroom” (certified Silver in the UK), in 1980, from their debut studio album.

The Beat would go global with the release of their third and final album, Special Beat Service in 1982, based on the success of two of its singles. “I Confess,” a delicious four-and-a-half minutes of calypso-inspired new wave/sophisti-pop, described by Elvis Costello (in a 1982 interview with NME) as “one of the most beautiful bits of singing I've heard all year.”  And then “Save It for Later,” which began as a crass schoolboy play-on-words (save it, fellator), a song both beloved and covered by Pete Townshend (who, according to lead singer Dave Wakefield, described it as “one of [his] favorite songs in [his] whole life”), Counting Crows (whose lead vocalist Adam Duritz named it his “perfect summer song”), and Pearl Jam (which regularly performs it live, in a medley with their song “Better Man”).  “Save It for Later” would appear in such films as Kingpin, Big Daddy, 200 Cigarettes, Sky High, Funny People, Hot Tub Time Machine, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, as well as television series including Love, Once Upon a Time, and twice on Season 3 of The Bear (first as a cover by Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder in S3 Ep2, then The Beat’s original version in S3 Ep7).

Steve Martin & Martin Short:  “The Dukes of Funnytown!,” featuring Jeff Babkoa and Steep Canyon Rangers

Encore Theater
October 10, 11 | 8 PM

The acclaimed and much ballyhooed funnymen, writers, authors, actors, musicians, and partners-in-crime both on- and off-screen, Steve Martin (recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, the Kennedy Center Honors, and the AFI’s Life Achievement Award; not to mention an Oscar, five Grammys, a Daytime Emmy, and a SAG Award), and Martin Short (winner of two Primetime Emmys, a Tony Award, and two SAG Awards), are returning to the Encore Theater for two nights with the latest iteration of their decade-long touring act, joined once more by Jeff Babkoa and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

Since 2015, the duo’s been delivering rapid-fire gags (think: little setup and big punchlines), mocking Hollywood and celebrity culture, playing the banjo (Martin), revisiting the great absurdist Hollywood interviewer Jiminy Glick (Short), and slinging insults at each other (as only the very funniest and best of friends can or should do).

“The format is basically the same, but the interior bits change and grow, and we drop a line and add a line,” Martin recently told People about of how The Dukes of Funnytown! compares to their previous touring shows, A Very Stupid Conversation (2015), An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life (2017), Now You See Them, Soon You Won’t (2019), The Funniest Show in Town at the Moment (2021), and You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today! (2022).   “If you saw a show one week and went to see it the next week, it'd be pretty close to the same. But if you saw it five years ago, it would be pretty close to the same too.”

At 80 (Martin) and 75 (Short), the duo have acclimated comfortably to their roles as elder statesmen of both Hollywood and humor.  And with a relevance that burns brighter than ever thanks to executive producing and starring in the addictively watchable Only Murders in the Building—Season 5 has just dropped on Hulu, and as of last week has an incredible 100% Rotten Tomatoes score—all eyes remain on this hilarious duo.
